FIDELITY INVESTMENTS - FCAT LABS

I had the privilege of working in the FCAT Innovative labs at Fidelity working on a mobile app for new investors. I lead a team of 5 through a rigorous design process where we followed a ___design process. By the end of our 6 month project, we had fully functioning prototype app to present to our innovative team. We are proud to report that Fidelity continued working on our mobile app and is soon to release a final version of the app to the public. The team of 5 consisted of 3 software developers, 1 financial analyst, and myself as the visual and graphic designer. I spear headed our design process with a Google design sprint, we hand selected individuals from additional departments to join in for the initial sprint. My title at Fidelity was a Design Thinker, I was able to implement my working styles with not only my team but with the graphic design team at Fidelity. I presented our work style and how it impacted our final product to all of the FCAT Labs employees after which we ran a workshop to introduce the working style to various interns at the company for the summer.

While I am not allowed to share any of the design work I completed with Fidelity on the app, I am able to share some example work I completed separately from the company that was made possible thanks to the experiences I had there. Before running a google design sprint with my team, I decided to reserve several days to allow the team to understand one another’s jobs. I had each member of the team prepare an hour long presentation explaining what they do and how their work impacts the teams. As a result of these presentations, the team was able to work more cohesively and effectively. Members of the team were able to have a deeper understanding of the parameters of work they could create. For example, as a designer I was able to format my final designs in a way that would save the software designers time by converting all of the file sizes and color codes into the language they were using to save them time in the process of executing the design codes.

We would begin work each day with a standup meeting, where I would check in with all members of the team to see if the project elements were on track. We would then split for the day to work on our individual responsibilities. Then at the end of the week we would have another meeting where we shared our progress for the week. I would then prepare a presentation for our senior management to share what the team had produced during the week.

When we got to the stage in the process where the app was ready for some consumer trials, we scanned …interviewed and …

We created personas. Here is an example of a persona map.

Here is an example ap design which is a page I would then share with the sofware development team.
